Turkey is rather larger than I had initially thought for example Istanbul - Eceabat is 5 hours, Canakkale - Kusadasi (not including stops in Troy and Pergamon) 7 hours and then another 7 through to Fethiye and Oludeniz.
And if I thought Hastings was hot in summer it is nothing compared with 33 degrees at Ephesis (just bearable with a breeze and umbrella) to Pamukkale (beautiful white terraces, see photo below)
and Hierapolis at 35 which wasn't very bearable and I had to leave early!
You can't win them all and anyway now I am at the beach....
